At Hampton Roads Legal Services, we don’t just file your bankruptcy and close your case. We want to make sure you have all of the necessary tools and resources to rebuild your credit and reach your financial goals after your bankruptcy has been filed.
Tips to Rebuild Credit
If you are filing a Chapter 13 bankruptcy, we start this process by providing you forms to track the payments you are to make after your bankruptcy is filed. All of our clients also receive tips on how to improve credit and manage finances going forward.
If filing a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, you will receive a new credit report/assessment after your discharge which will be monitored for a year. If you find errors on your credit report, you will be assigned an individual from the credit report agency to assist you in getting those errors corrected.
Stop Creditor Calls & Mail
If a creditor fails to correct the errors and continues to report inaccurate information on your credit report or continues to contact you through mail or phone after your bankruptcy has been filed, you have access to the ability to sue creditors and stop these errors through our partner Upright Law, a National Consumer Rights Protection Law Firm. In some cases, Upright Law can not only stop the creditors from contacting you but they can also collect damages of $1,000 or more.
